Job summary

Waythrough is seeking a Recovery Navigator in Wimborne to provide person-centred support to individuals affected by drug and alcohol use, helping them progress from engagement to sustainable recovery.

You will manage a caseload, develop recovery plans, perform triage and assessments, work with families and partner agencies, deliver psychosocial interventions and support access to treatment and community resources. This role is hybrid with some travel.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting people with drug and/or alcohol-related needs or within a health/social care setting.
• Experience managing a caseload and developing person-centred recovery or treatment plans.
• Ability to carry out assessments and identify appropriate support and interventions.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and risk management.

Location: Wimborne, with some travel to satellite sites based around the area.
Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Part-time, permanent
Salary: £25,877.80 - £34,240.03 per annum (pro rata)

About the Role

As a Recovery Navigator , you will provide person-centred support to individuals affected by drug and alcohol use, helping them progress from initial engagement and treatment towards sustainable recovery.

You will manage a caseload of service users, developing and reviewing individual recovery plans while working closely with colleagues, partner agencies, families and other professionals. You will take a holistic approach to recovery, supporting people to reduce substance-related harm, improve their wellbeing and build stronger connections within their communities.

The role will also involve contributing to the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) function and supporting the wider delivery of safe, effective and accessible services.

What You’ll Do

• Manage a caseload of service users, developing, implementing and regularly reviewing personalised recovery and treatment plans.
• Complete triage, screening and comprehensive assessments to identify individual needs and appropriate interventions.
• Contribute to the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and other service functions as required.
• Provide effective case management, including completing risk assessments, risk management plans and safeguarding assessments.
• Maintain accurate and timely records using the relevant online case management systems.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, partner agencies and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Deliver one-to-one and group-based psychosocial interventions tailored to individual and local needs.
• Support service users to access treatment, community resources and opportunities that strengthen recovery and social connections.
• Work positively with families, carers and significant others, where appropriate, to reduce the impact of drug and alcohol-related harm on family life.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action in line with organisational and local safeguarding procedures.
• Contribute to harm-reduction activities, including drug screening, BBV testing, immunisation services and community needle exchange provision, where appropriate.
• Provide tailored drug and alcohol harm-reduction advice and interventions.
• Promote visible recovery and ensure peer-support opportunities are accessible and relevant to service users.
• Participate in reviews, team meetings, supervision, training and ongoing professional development.
• Work in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and Waythrough’s clinical governance framework.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people affected by drug and alcohol use and who can build positive, professional relationships with service users, colleagues and partner organisations.

You will ideally have:

• Experience of supporting people with drug and/or alcohol-related needs, or within a similar health, social care or community setting.
• Experience of managing a caseload and developing person-centred support, recovery or treatment plans.
• The ability to carry out assessments and identify appropriate support and interventions.
• An understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and risk management.
• Knowledge of harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and with external partner agencies.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate case records.
• Confidence delivering structured one-to-one support and group interventions.
• An understanding of the impact substance use can have on individuals, families and communities.
