Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Recovery Activities Worker to develop and deliver a range of therapeutic activities for inpatients within the Secure Inpatient Service. You will support recovery-focused rehabilitation across wards and the wider site, working with the Recovery Academy and allied health professionals.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Care or AVCE in Health & Social Care as minimum.
• Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a range of activities for all inpatients within the service, supporting with recovery-focused rehabilitation.
• Support and enhance people’s hobbies and skills (craft, gardening, sports, social activities).
• Work across inpatient site and ward environment with links to Recovery Academy and Allied Health Professionals.

The Forensic Secure Service offers you the exciting opportunity to work within the Secure Inpatient Service.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and creative individuals to join our team of Activity Workers to facilitate activity within Roseberry Park Hospital.

The role will involve working with our excellent facilities across the inpatient site and within a ward environment. You will have strong working links with the Recovery Academy as well as a range of Allied Health Professionals.

The Forensic Service will provide you with access to relevant training opportunities in your workplace to support you in developing your knowledge, experience and skills.

You will have the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on the delivery of care and improving patient wellbeing whilst being supported by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

You will have the opportunity to provide a range of therapeutic activities to meet the educational, social and recreational needs of service users to enhance recovery.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

The successful postholders will develop and deliver a range of activities for all inpatients within the service, supporting with recovery focused rehabilitation. These could include Recovery Colleges, Vocational skills and qualifications and social activities.

In addition to this, the postholders will support and enhance peoples hobbies and skills, such as, supporting or leading in areas of craft, gardening, sports, social activities based with in the hospital and wider community.

Job responsibilities

The Secure Inpatient Service provides a specialist service for adults with a mental health disorder, learning disability or autism. The service provides individualised, comprehensive packages of care within Medium and Low Secure inpatient settings.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Relevant NVQ Level 3 in Care
• OR Appropriate AVCE in Health & Social Care
• OR Willingness to undertake within agreed timescale
• Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
• Qualification in education or lifelong learning
• OR Qualification in LLDD (Learner with Learning Difficulties/Disabilities)

Experience

• Experience of working in Experience or paid or voluntary work with adults with learning disability and /or Autism spectrum conditions and/or mental health conditions clinical setting
• Experience of organising and running activities of a therapeutic nature
• Experience of working in secure setting
• Experience of Recovery College courses and recovery focused events

Knowledge

• Awareness of the needs and difficulties of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities.
• Awareness of the needs of individuals from diverse social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
• Understanding of Recovery and the CHIME principles
• Understanding of education terminology (within agreed timescale)
• Awareness of health & safety issues (within agreed timescale)

Skills

• Ability to communicate information (verbal and written) effectively in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation
• Time management and ability to prioritise effectively
