Job summary

Essex Local Nature Partnership is hiring a Temporary Reception/Admin Assistant for maternity cover at Mersea Island School. The successful candidate will manage reception duties and administrative tasks for 19.5 hours a week during term time. Candidates should be organized, able to work under pressure, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in a school setting is preferred but not essential.

Temporary Reception/Admin Assistant - Maternity Cover

from Monday 1st September 25 to Friday 19th December 25

19.5 Hours per week, Monday to Wednesday 8.15 - 3.45pm, 1 hr unpaid lunch

Term Time only - Pay Scale Band 1 point 2

We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, creative, and organised Reception/Admin Assistant.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate; -

· Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with adults and children.

· An ability to use initiative.

· An ability to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst remaining calm

· Outstanding organisational skills.

· An ability to use discretion and an understanding of confidentiality.

· Ability to be flexible and work as a team

· Excellent literacy, numeracy, communication and IT skills are essential.

· A good sense of humour.

Previous experience of working within a school would be an advantage, although this is not essential.

Information about the School

Mersea Island School currently has 380 pupils aged 2-11, this includes a nursery with capacity for up to 48 children. It is the only school on the island, serving a closely knit community. The school is located on Mersea Island, off the coast of Essex and close to Colchester. The area surrounding the school in the town of West Mersea is semi-rural. The island is famous for its oyster cultivation and traditional fishing boats, and has a history of sailing. Pupils derive from a very mixed social background, and many of the pupils have parents and grandparents who attended the school.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
