Job summary

CVS Vets in Winchester and Overton is seeking a friendly Veterinary Receptionist to join our busy practice. You’ll be the first point of contact, greeting clients, handling phones, scheduling appointments and processing payments, while delivering compassionate care for pets and their families.

This permanent, on-site role offers 26.75 hours weekly with occasional Saturdays and a pattern across two branches.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Receptionist is a must; veterinary setting is a bonus.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in a busy environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with genuine empathy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Manage communication: answer calls and schedule appointments efficiently.
• Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Greet and register new clients with a warm welcome.
• Process and manage insurance forms and payments.
• Distribute medications as required and liaise on client needs.
• Organise patients using the practice in-house system.
• Liaise with veterinary teams for patient care and queries.
• Support debt and refunds handling and ensure client satisfaction.

We're on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate animal enthusiast to step into the role of a Veterinary Receptionist at our Mildmay Winchester and Overton branches.

Location:

Winchester and Overton

Contract:

Permanent

Hours:

26.75, with the potential for extra hours on a Saturday

Shift Pattern:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with one day at the Overton branch

Mildmay is made up of three practices Winchester, Overton and Chandlers ford. We are a hospital who offers 24/7 care.

You will have a set contract of hours but there is always the potential for overtime and extra shifts. The role is very varied so includes client care, admin work as well as being on the front desk answering phones and dealing with the clients who visit us. We are looking for a friendly and helpful person with the ability to multitask.

About the Role:

• Manage Communication: Handle incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently

• Inter-practice Communication: Liaise with veterinary practices to address patient needs and queries
• Debt and Refund Management: Make necessary phone calls regarding debts, belongings, and refunds
• Client Care: Above all, ensure that every client feels welcomed and valued at our practice

Who We're Looking For:

• Previous experience as a Receptionist is a must; experience in a veterinary setting is a bonus!
• Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with grace
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Outstanding customer service skills and experience with the public
• Positive attitude and superior teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
