Job summary

WSP is expanding its UK flood forecasting capability within the Sustainable Water Management team and seeks experienced flood forecast modellers and hydrologists at all levels to deliver real-time modelling across the UK and beyond.

You will mentor junior modellers, contribute to bid proposals, shape forecasting services, and collaborate with colleagues across the UK and internationally, while promoting safety and client-focused delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of UK flood forecasting techniques and Flood Modeller.
• Experience delivering and reviewing real time models for UK bodies.
• Chartership or commitment to achieving it.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and, where appropriate, lead flood forecast modelling and hydrology studies using Flood Modeller, PDM and hydrodynamic routing.
• Prepare and review model boundaries, undertake rating reviews and performance testing.
• Carry out quality assurance and independent technical reviews of forecast products.
• Produce clear client and public facing deliverables and visualise complex data.
• Support development of WSPs flood forecasting service offering.
• Mentor less experienced modellers.
• Support or lead bid proposals and develop innovative client solutions.
• Manage project delivery including commercial, financial and stakeholder aspects.
• Collaborate with UK and international WSP teams.
• Promote a safety first approach in line with WSP policies procedures.
