Job summary

AJ Chambers, partnered with an award-winning Tier 1 Legal 500 law firm in Hertfordshire, seeks an experienced real estate disputes lawyer to join the high-performing property litigation team. You will manage a varied caseload of both residential and commercial disputes and advise on leasehold and freehold issues.

The role emphasizes high-quality case management, client communication, and contribution to business development, with agile working and a comprehensive benefits package.

• Experience in real estate disputes, with ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Strong knowledge of leasehold and freehold issues.
• Experience advising clients and managing deadlines in court and tribunals.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a varied caseload of residential and commercial property disputes.
• Advise on freehold and leasehold issues, lease renewals, breaches, and non-payment of rent.
• Handle title disputes, service charge disputes, Land Registry, and tribunal applications.
• Deliver training to junior staff and contribute to business development.
• Maintain regular client communication and report progress throughout case progression.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced real estate disputes lawyer to join a well established team focusing on high quality and complex matters.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you will proactively and independently manage a varies caseload of both residential and commercial property disputes including but not limited to:

• Advising on both freehold and leasehold issues
• Lease renewals, terminations and breaches of lease issues
• Non-payment of rent
• Forfeiture
• Dilapidations
• Easements including rights of way
• Trespassing and nuisance claims
• Title disputes
• Service charge disputes
• Land Registry and 1st tier tribunal applications
• Co-ownership disputes

Other responsibilities:

• Ensuring adherence to court and tribunal deadlines, with consistent attention to high-quality case management.
• Assessing claims, analysing the strengths and weaknesses of defences and counterclaims, and advising clients accordingly.
• Delivering training sessions and supporting the professional development of junior staff.
• Keeping clients informed through regular reporting and maintaining transparent communication throughout case progression.
• Contributing to business development efforts and supporting the growth of the practice.
