Job summary

PK Education is currently recruiting for a Reading Champion to support pupils at a primary school in Newcastle. Starting after October half term, this is an opportunity to help children become confident, enthusiastic readers.

Applications are welcome from teaching assistants, literacy support staff and candidates with relevant experience helping children develop their reading skills. PK Education - Inspiring potential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in reading or literacy.
• Good understanding of phonics and strategies to support developing readers.
• Patient, encouraging and able to build positive relationships with pupils.

• Create a positive, inclusive environment where children feel supported.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally supporting reading or literacy.
• Has a good understanding of phonics and strategies to support developing readers.
• Is patient, encouraging and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Has strong communication skills and works well within a school team.
• Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for a new one.
