Job summary

NG Bailey in Yeovilton is seeking a Structured Cabling / Managed Services Engineer to support critical infrastructure in secure military environments. The role covers break‑fix support, structured cabling installations, network upgrades, and maintenance of fibre, data and voice systems.

Travel across sites in Bristol, Bournemouth, Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire is required, with training, development and clear progression in a fast‑moving specialist environment offering opportunities for

Qualifications

  • Experience with fibre, data and voice cabling.
  • Knowledge of MoD standards preferred.
  • Experience working on live customer sites.
  • Ability to read construction drawings.
  • Willingness to travel UK/overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Operate safely and in line with H&S policies on site.
  • Adhere to NG Bailey policies, processes and procedures.
  • Ensure works comply with IT service standards and client guidelines.
  • Maintain material control and project stock records.
  • Provide timely internal and client project reporting (timesheets, reports).
  • Monitor quality and productivity against programme and maintain site records.

Summary

Join a growing team as a Structured Cabling / Managed Services Engineer, supporting critical infrastructure in secure military environments. This hands‑on role covers a mix of break‑fix support, structured cabling installations, network upgrades, and the maintenance of fibre, data, and voice systems.

It’s a great opportunity for an engineer with fibre, data, or voice cabling experience who wants to broaden their technical skills and work on high-profile projects. Some of the key deliverables of the role will include:

  • Alwaysoperatein a safe manner andin accordance withNG Bailey H&S policies whiledemonstratingappropriate Healthand Safety leadership to ensure that the safetyfirst and foremostmessage is visible and alive throughout any activities carried out.
  • Ensure adherence to all NG Bailey’s policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure all workscomply withNG Bailey IT Service’s standards and to meet and where possible, exceed Client expectations, whilst ensuring adherence to vendor and manufacturer design guidelines.
  • Keeping material control andmaintainrecords of deliveries and project stock.
  • Ensuring the provision oftimelyandaccurateinternal and customer project reporting (timesheets, mileage returns, daily reports, completion certificates).
  • Monitoring the quality and productivity against programme andmaintaindaily site records and reports.
  • Ensure that positive relationships aremaintainedwith the customer through efficient delivery of projects with a view to optimising future opportunities and profitability.
  • Ensuring Service and Projects installation meets internal and client specifications and statutory requirements.

Whatwe’relooking for:

  • Knowledge of MoD standards (preferable).
  • Previousexperience with fibre,dataand voice cabling.
  • Proven ability tolocateand rectify faults.
  • Solid experience on working in ‘live’ customer sites.
  • Ability to work from construction drawings.
  • Willingness to be part of an on-call rota and working out of hours
  • Willingness to travel work away from home (UK and overseas)

  • Security Clearance is conditional for this role; assistance will be given by NG Bailey Vetting.
  • FullDriving Licence isrequired.
