Job summary

Loughborough College Group is seeking a Motor Vehicle Workshop Technician (Instructor) to support practical delivery at Stephenson College. You will prepare vehicles, tools and diagnostics for sessions and help learners during demonstrations and assessments.

The role requires industry experience, Level 3 MV Maintenance & Repair or equivalent, and the ability to mentor apprentices while staying current with Hybrid/EV tech.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Experience with modern vehicle diagnostic equipment and software.
• Industry experience in the automotive sector.
• Ability to mentor apprentices and deliver technical training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles, components, specialist tools and diagnostic equipment for practical sessions.
• Support learners and lecturers during workshop activities, demonstrations and assessments.
• Maintain, service and repair workshop vehicles, equipment and training rigs.
• Ensure high standards of health and safety, COSHH compliance and workshop practice.
• Manage workshop consumables, stock and equipment.

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies including Hybrid, Electric Vehicle and ADAS systems.

Motor Vehicle Workshop Technician (Instructor) - Stephenson College

Are you an experienced Motor Vehicle Workshop Technician looking to share your skills and expertise with the next generation?

At Loughborough College Group we are looking for a workshop technician to support the delivery of practical motor vehicle training, maintaining workshop facilities, vehicles, tools and diagnostic equipment while helping learners develop the skills needed for successful careers in the automotive industry.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking department and work with industry-standard equipment while supporting learners studying Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair based at Stephenson College.

As our Motor Vehicle Workshop Technician (Instructor), you will:

Prepare vehicles, components, specialist tools and diagnostic equipment for practical sessions.

Support learners and lecturers during workshop activities, demonstrations and assessments.

Maintain, service and repair workshop vehicles, equipment and training rigs.

Ensure high standards of health and safety, COSHH compliance and workshop practice.

Manage workshop consumables, stock and equipment.

Help develop a modern and industry-relevant learning environment.

Stay up to date with emerging technologies including Hybrid, Electric Vehicle and ADAS systems.

The ideal candidate will possess:

A Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent automotive qualification.

Relevant industry experience within the automotive sector.

Experience using modern vehicle diagnostic equipment and software.

Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, diagnostics and fault finding.

Excellent organisational and communication skills.

A passion for supporting and developing others.

IMI Accreditation.

Hybrid and Electric Vehicle qualifications.

Experience mentoring apprentices or delivering technical training.
