Job summary

Vector Recruitment Solutions seeks a Drainage Operative to operate, maintain and service Jet Vac equipment and to drive a Class 2 HGV jetting vehicle across sites in the United Kingdom. This is a physical, outdoor role with regular overtime and occasional away‑from‑home work.

You will perform high‑pressure water jetting and vacuum excavation, clean sewers, and follow RAMS and safety rules while communicating with clients and site teams.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence and Driver CPC.
• Proven drainage and jetting operations experience.
• RAMS compliance and safe systems of work knowledge.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
• HPWJ certification and Confined Space training.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and service Jet Vac equipment per manuals.
• Drive a Class 2 HGV jetting vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Carry out high‑pressure water jetting and vacuum excavation.
• Clean and maintain sewers and pipework; manage waste paperwork.
• Work in confined spaces and comply with RAMS and safety rules.
• Communicate effectively with clients and site teams; overtime when required.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and service Jet Vac (Combi Unit) equipment in line with manufacturer service manuals
• Drive and operate an HGV Class 2 Combi / Jetting vehicle safely and efficiently
• Carry out high-pressure water jetting and vacuum excavation work
• Clean and maintain drainage systems including:
  • Sewers and pipework
  • Interceptors
• Work in and around confined spaces in accordance with safety procedures
• Ensure full compliance with RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) and site safety rules
• Complete all required waste documentation and duty-of-care paperwork
• Communicate effectively with clients, site teams, and line managers
• Work flexibly, including overtime and working away from home during the week

Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Strict adherence to RAMS documentation on all sites
• Safe operation of high-pressure water jetting and vacuum systems
• Compliance with environmental waste handling regulationsWorking safely in confined or high-risk environments

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
• Proven experience in drainage and jetting operations
• Strong understanding of safe systems of work and RAMS compliance
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK
• High Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ) certification
• Confined Space training
• Experience in patch lining / UV drain lining

Skills Required

• Ability to operate specialist drainage equipment confidently
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
• Willingness to carry out physically demanding outdoor work
• Flexibility to work overtime and away from home when required
• £18.00- £21ph depending on experience- enhanced overtime rates
