Portsmouth City Council's Learning Place in North End, Portsmouth, is seeking an English Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Entry Level through Level 2 courses and support adults in progressing in learning and employment.
You will assess learners, monitor progress, maintain learner records, provide progression guidance, support volunteers, and promote the service within the local community.
Join our Community Learning Service at The Learning Place and help adults develop the English skills they need to progress in learning, employment and everyday life. As an English Functional Skills Tutor, you will develop and deliver engaging Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 English courses, assess and support learners to achieve their goals, monitor progress and maintain high-quality learner records. You will provide information and guidance on progression opportunities, create an inclusive and safe learning environment, contribute to service improvement through learner feedback and performance data, support volunteers, develop partnership opportunities, and help promote the service within the local community.
We are looking for a qualified and passionate teacher with experience of delivering high-quality learning to diverse groups of learners. You will hold Qualified Teacher Status and relevant subject qualifications, with a strong ability to embed maths, English, digital skills and employability into your teaching. You will have a sound understanding of the Education Inspection Framework, safeguarding responsibilities, and the Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers, alongside experience working with awarding organisations and hard-to-reach learners. As an excellent communicator with strong organisational, problem-solving and IT skills, you will be adaptable, collaborative and committed to continuous professional development, ensuring learners receive engaging, inclusive and effective learning experiences that support their success.
