Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Civil Design Technician to join their Swindon team on behalf of a growing consultancy. This role offers exposure to residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects, with mentorship from experienced engineers and a clear path for career development.

Ideal for a graduate or early-career civil engineer, you will gain hands-on experience in infrastructure design, assist with detailed designs, CAD drawings, and collaboration with project teams to deliver

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Exposure to civil engineering or infrastructure projects through employment, placements or internships.
  • Experience using AutoCAD 2D, with 3D advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of detailed infrastructure and civil engineering designs.
  • Produce technical drawings and design information using CAD software.
  • Support the delivery of highways, drainage and development infrastructure projects.
  • Work with engineers, clients and external stakeholders to support project delivery.
  • Attend project meetings and site visits to develop technical understanding and industry knowledge.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports and supporting project documentation.

Requirements

Essential:

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of highway and drainage design principles.
  • Experience using Civil 3D, Site 3D, PDS, InfoDrainage or similar software.
  • Understanding of UK infrastructure design standards and guidance, i.e. Manual for Streets and Sewers for Adoption.
  • Previous consultancy or development‑sector experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
