Job summary

Military Medical Personnel is seeking a Locum Dental Nurse to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence at HMS Drake Dental Centre in Devonport, Plymouth. The role is 37.5 hours per week and focuses on delivering high standards of care to MoD service personnel.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC, maintain indemnity, and have current CPD in emergencies, safeguarding and radiography. Candidates should have experience in infection control and radiographic processing.

Qualifications

• Fully registered with the General Dental Council (GDC).
• Minimum 2 clinical sessions per week over the last 15 months.
• Current CPD including medical emergencies, safeguarding, radiography.
• Valid indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation.
• Adherence to infection control and Health & Safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical duties including preparing and sterilising instruments, operating the dental computing system, and processing radiographs.
• Manage patient appointments, dental records and ensure proper documentation of dental prosthetic appliances.
• Adhere to infection control procedures and Health and Safety policies.
• Assist in the central sterilisation area as required.
• Ensure compliance with GDC standards and current legislation.

Job description

We are looking for a Locum Dental Nurse to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at HMS Drake Dental Centre, in Devonport, Plymouth.

This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rate:

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with clinical duties including preparing and sterilising instruments, operating the dental computing system, and processing radiographs.
• Manage patient appointments, dental records and ensure proper documentation of dental prosthetic appliances.
• Adhere to infection control procedures and follow Health and Safety policies.
• Assist in the central sterilisation area as required.
• Ensure compliance with GDC (General Dental Council) standards and current legislation.
• Fully registered with the General Dental Council (GDC).
• Valid indemnity insurance with a recognized dental defence organization.
• Clinical currency: a minimum of 2 clinical sessions per week over the last 15 months.
• Completion of relevant CPD courses (e.g., medical emergencies, safeguarding, radiography).
• Current certification in emergency and resuscitation procedures.
• Certification in Safeguarding Children and Adults Level 3.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Previous Ministry of Defence (MOD) experience.
