Job summary

Major Healthcare is seeking compassionate Children's Residential Support Workers to join our agency team in the UK. You will support children and young people in residential settings, fostering safe, nurturing environments and positive routines.

We offer regular work, clear communication, and ongoing opportunities to develop professionally. Flexible shifts, weekly pay, and access to block bookings and ad hoc work are available to suit your availability.

Qualifications

  • 6+ months' paid UK experience working with children or young people in a residential setting.
  • DBS clearance (Enhanced) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Current Physical Intervention/Restraint training.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people within residential homes.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support with daily routines, education, appointments and recreational activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour using trauma-informed and child-centred approaches.
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Complete accurate records and handovers.
  • Work collaboratively with residential teams and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for each young person.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • At least 6 months' paid UK experience working with children or young people in a residential setting.
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work a mixture of day shifts, waking nights and sleep-ins.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Current Physical Intervention/Restraint training.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
