Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is recruiting an HGV Driver for the National Road Planing (NRP) team. Based at the Rand office near Market Rasen, you must be flexible to travel nationally, including staying away as required. Roles include day/night shifts, weekends, and potential short-notice changes.

Overtime and weekend rates apply when available. You will report to the Transport Manager and be responsible for safety, timely journeys, and accurate load recording.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular checks on lorries and trailers and report defects promptly.
• Ensure all journeys are completed safely, legally and in line with regulations.
• Plan journeys and coordinate with Planer Foreman to ensure correct shift start times.
• Transport planed materials from site to designated tipping locations and record loads accurately.
• Maintain communication with the NRP Transport Manager and adhere to company procedures.

We are currently recruiting for an

HGV Driver to join our National Road Planing (NRP) team. Although you will be based at our Rand office near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, this role requires flexibility as you will need to go where the work is, staying overnight if and when necessary. You will be expected to travel nationally.

You will be contracted to 40-hours per week, but your work pattern may vary. Some weeks you may be working days, other times evenings and sometimes nights and we need any prospective candidates to be accommodating to these types of working hours and be flexible; sometimes at short notice.

Prospective candidates are eligible for overtime, as and when it is available, which is paid at a premium and any weekend & bank holiday working also comes at a higher rate when available.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our HGV Driver, you’ll report into the Transport Manager and play a key role in day‑to‑day operations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out regular checks on lorries and trailers, reporting defects promptly to the fitter and office
• Ensuring all journeys are completed safely, legally and in line with driving regulations
• Planning journeys in accordance with

STGO Category 2 movement orders to ensure planers arrive on site for the correct shift start times

• Liaising closely with the Planer Foreman and Operatives to ensure effective teamwork on site
• Transporting planed materials from site to designated tipping locations
• Accurately recording planing loads and tip details on load transfer tickets and returning these to the office
• Complying with company standards and procedures and maintaining regular communication with the NRP Transport Manager

This role involves

day and night working, weekend working, and occasional

staying away during the week, depending on operational requirements.
