Job summary

Priority Recruitment in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Support Worker to provide one-to-one care to a wheelchair-using client at home and in the community. The role is permanent, part-time (33 hours per week) with a fixed monthly rota and a pay rate of £13.99 per hour on weekdays.

You will assist with personal care, feeding, medication, insulin management and mobility, driving a wheelchair-accessible van, and enabling meaningful activities while maintaining dignity and safety.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting adults with complex care needs.
  • Full UK driving licence essential.
  • Confident with personal care and hoisting.
  • Comfortable supporting clients with limited communication.

Responsibilities

  • Providing personal care and support with all daily living activities.
  • Supporting with feeding and safe mealtime management.
  • Administering medication and supporting with insulin management.
  • Supporting with epilepsy management and monitoring wellbeing.
  • Supporting with bathing, dressing and bedtime routines.
  • Taking the client shopping or to leisure activities.

We are looking for compassionate, reliable and physically fit Support Workers who are passionate about providing high-quality one-to-one support and helping individuals live safely and comfortably while accessing meaningful activities and routines.

Company and Role
  • Supporting a 30-year-old gentleman within his own home and the community
  • Supporting a client living with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and Type 1 diabetes
  • Providing full personal care and daily living support
  • Supporting with feeding, therapy programmes and leisure activities
  • Supporting with medication administration and insulin management
  • Driving the client’s wheelchair accessible vehicle for activities and appointments
  • Working as part of an established and supportive care team

The client is wheelchair dependent and requires hoisting for all transfers. He has no verbal communication and limited understanding of the world around him, so Support Workers must be patient, observant and confident in supporting complex communication needs.

The client enjoys routine, familiar support and engaging activities within the home and community.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Successful Applicant
  • Experience supporting adults with complex care needs
  • Confident with personal care and hoisting
  • Experience supporting epilepsy and/or diabetes management preferred
  • Comfortable supporting clients with limited communication
  • Physically fit and confident pushing a wheelchair
  • Calm, patient and compassionate approach
  • Reliable and committed to long-term support
  • Full UK driving licence essential
Training Required
