Randstad Education is actively recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant to support children's learning in local primary schools near Longstanton. You will provide 1:1, small group, or whole-class assistance across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, helping raise attainment in reading, writing and maths.

Choose day-to-day flexible work or longer fixed-term placements to suit your availability. A patient, proactive approach, excellent communication with staff and pupils, and a valid Enhanced DBS are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with primary-aged children or related settings.

  • Excellent communication with staff and learners.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality 1:1, small group, or whole-class support to pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2, helping raise attainment in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Assist class teachers in preparing resources, managing classroom environments, and executing engaging, inclusive learning activities.

Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping keep children focused, regulated, and confident in their learning tasks.

Promote positive behaviour using supportive strategies aligned with individual school policies.

Assist with outdoor learning, continuous provision, and playground supervision during break times.

Maintain clear communication with class teachers regarding pupil engagement, achievements, and any areas requiring additional focus.

What We Look For:

Previous experience working with primary-aged children (in schools, early years settings, youth groups, or care environments).

A patient, warm, and approachable personality with a proactive approach to supporting classroom activities.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build quick, positive rapport with staff and young learners.

Basic understanding of primary literacy and numeracy techniques (experience with phonics programs is a bonus).

A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
