Job summary

Vector Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Surveyor for a Leeds-based civils project. You will lead topographical surveys and setting out on complex earthworks, ensuring alignment with drawings and QA procedures, with access to total stations, GPS kits, and 3D machine control systems.

The role offers a salary of £35,000–£40,000 per annum (DOE) plus a company vehicle and full surveying equipment. A driving licence is essential to travel across the Leeds/North West region.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in civil engineering surveying, earthworks and steel frame construction.
• HNC/HND in a construction-related field preferred.
• Full UK Driving Licence for site travel across Leeds/North West Region.

Responsibilities

• Lead setting out and surveying operations for civils sites with high accuracy.
• Utilise Total Stations, GPS Kits and Dumpy Levels to gather survey data.
• Produce precise as-built drawings in AutoCAD LT and LSS.
• Monitor 3D machine control systems for grading accuracy.
• Maintain site QA documentation and procedures.

The Opportunity Following several major National Contract Wins, a premier Civil Engineering firm is looking for an experienced Topographical & Setting Out Surveyor based in Leeds to support a long term civils construction project. Join a dynamic team shaping the future of civil engineering infrastructure across the UK.

Technical Requirements & Responsibilities

• Surveying Excellence: Lead setting out and surveying operations for complex civils sites, ensuring 100% accuracy in alignment with construction drawings.
• Systems Proficiency: Advanced use of Total Stations, GPS Kits, and Dumpy Levels.
• Software & CAD: High level of competency in AutoCAD LT and LSS (including volume calculations) to produce precise as-built drawings.
• Earthworks & Machine Control: Expertly manage the initial setup, calibration, and continuous monitoring of 3D Machine Control systems to ensure precision grading and earthworks execution.
• Compliance & QA: Maintain rigorous site QA documentation and procedures to ensure project integrity and safety.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years’ specialist experience in civil engineering surveying ideally dealing with earthworks and steel frame construction.
• Qualifications: Ideally HNC/HND in a construction-related field.
• Mobility: Full UK Driving Licence is essential for site travel across the Leeds/ North West Region
