We are looking for a warm, thoughtful and organised Dementia Adviser to join our supportive team in Central and West Lancashire working 28 hours per week on a permanent basis.

It is important to live in or close to Central Lancashire – eg. South Ribble, Preston, Chorley, and surrounds.

This is a community-based role with a special focus on telephone support, specialising in being the first voice and support to reach people in need of our help. You will be speaking with people from across Lancashire and South Cumbria many of whom may have waited months for a diagnosis, for answers and progress, or been living with new symptoms or challenges for some time before asking for help.

Alongside working from home, the role will also involve regular travel across primarily the Central Lancashire area including local outreach, meetings, direct support, and group activity provisions based on business and community needs.

You will work closely with people living with dementia and those who care about them, providing ongoing support. You will listen carefully, understand what matters most to each person and offer guidance that helps them feel steadier and more confident as their situation changes.

Your days will be varied and meaningful. You might be offering calm reassurance over the phone, or working closely with other professionals to make sure the right support is in place. You might be the Dementia Adviser on hand at a Singing for the Brain Group, or representing Alzheimer’s Society by visiting a local partner’s activity or an event on outreach.

We operate a triage system for new referrals and you will play a key part in making sure people are responded to quickly and thoughtfully. You will manage your own caseload, keeping clear and accurate records, while always seeing the person behind the paperwork.

You will be part of a caring and dynamic local team who share ideas, reflect together and support one another. There will be time to meet as a team and opportunities to keep growing your knowledge of dementia, with your manager and colleagues alongside you. We provide training and ongoing support.
