Job summary

Holroyd Howe is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter to join the catering team at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey. You will help maintain cleanliness, assist with basic prep, and support service across breakfast, lunch, and dinner for students and staff seven days a week.

The role offers a 5 out of 7 rota, 6:30am–2:30pm or 12:30pm–8:30pm shifts, with a 35-hour pattern and free meals on duty, plus development opportunities within a busy education catering environment.

Qualifications

• Keen interest in food and cooking essential.
• Good attention to detail and hygiene practices.
• Team player with flexible attitude.
• Previous kitchen experience or relevant training is beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to work in education or high-profile catering environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
• Assist chefs with basic food prep and stock deliveries.
• Operate dishwashers and ensure proper sanitation practices.
• Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.

Location: Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey (GU7 2DX)

Salary: £27,000 per annum (35 hours per week, 1 hour unpaid break, free meals on duty)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (5 out of 7 days)

You will be joining

• Approx. every third weekend off, helping support a strong work-life balance

• This is a 5 out of 7 day rota with a mix of shifts to meet operational needs:
• Early shift: 6:30am – 2:30pm
• Late shift: 12:30pm – 8:30pm
