EQUANS is seeking a Mobile Technical Operative (Electrical) for the HMCTS contract in Kingston upon Hull. The role is permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week, with a salary of £38,000–£39,000 per year.

You will perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance across site facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and client requirements. A full UK driving license and appropriate electrical qualifications are essential for this hands-on on-site role.

Qualifications

• Full Clean UK Driving License is required.
• NVQ level 3 in Electrical or City & Guilds Technical Certificate in Electrical is essential.
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations is essential.
• BPSS clearance is required.
• Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) may apply for specific sites such as Royal Court of Justice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on electrical infrastructure and plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.
• Complete reactive tasks and proactively identify areas for improvement.
• Rectify plant faults to maintain serviceable condition and ensure availability of spares.
• Provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
• Complete paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive and breakdown works and pass to contract administrator.
• Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for safe work practices.
• Develop relationships with Equans staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
• Ensure safe and healthy working environment, wearing uniform and PPE.
• Supervise subcontractors on site during maintenance and monitor KPI/SLA compliance.
• Keep CAFM systems (e.g., TotalMobile) up to date and ensure tickets are closed with accurate data.
• Issue PTW to Subcontractors and Equans staff; support engineering in emergencies.

Mobile Technical Operative (Electrical)

EQUANS are looking for a Mobile Technical Operative (Electrical) at Kingston upon Hull Combined Court in Hull for our HMCTS contract. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview: Equans provide technical and soft services to our client HMCTS across a large portfolio of buildings across the UK. As part of the service, we provide low voltage electrical maintenance and installation services, and because of business growth, we are recruiting for additional roles to provide these services for our customer.

Salary: £38,000 to £39,000 a year. Hours: Full-time. Location: Kingston upon Hull. Job type: Permanent.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that routine Planned Preventative Measures (PPM) is carried out to the electrical infrastructure and plant in accordance with Site task schedules and CAFM.
• Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
• Ensure that plant faults and defects are always swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order.
• Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive works.
• To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
• Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are always prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices.
• To develop a good working relationship with all members of Equans staff, subcontractors and the client representatives.
• Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To include the wearing of uniform and PPE at all times.
• Ensure up to date plant logs are kept at all times.
• Supervising and monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance.
• Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
• Ensure CAFM system, e.g. TotalMobile, is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
• To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Equans’ Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
• To carry out any other task as directed by the account management team.
• The position will require you to provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.
• To gain Technical Appointments as required e.g. LVCP/LVAP/HVAP and to issue PTW to Subcontractors and Equans staff.
• Ensure both self-delivered and subcontracted maintenance, testing and inspection activities are in compliance with the latest version of BS7671, ensuring that all remedials are carried out.

This is not an exhaustive list and the Technical Supervisor will be required to be flexible as the contract develops.

Impact: Working to high standard of Building Maintenance, we require a fully reliable and competent Electrician who can work on own initiative, within a team or oversee subcontractor’s, producing high quality reports on their findings and work. The role will involve being the face of Equans so smart appearance and being able to discuss findings with others including customers is required.

Complexity: The successful candidate will have the ability to fault find and diagnose and rectify complex Electrical faults and issues unaided. Have an excellent knowledge of Electrical systems, which will enable the development of switching schedules and Safety Documentation prior to shutdowns. To plan and oversee electrical shutdowns to permit maintenance or testing.
