Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is recruiting a Maintenance Technician for HMP Channings Wood near Newton Abbot. This permanent, Monday-to-Friday role is 39 hours per week and focuses on keeping a high-security prison environment safe and well-maintained.

You will join a facilities maintenance team alongside plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners and administrators, contributing to reliable operation and prisoner/staff safety while benefiting from a supportive workplace

Location: HMP Channings Wood (Newton Abbott)

Contract: Permanent, 39 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team at HMP Channings Wood, a category C adult male prison.

As a Maintenance Technician you will have the opportunity to work alongside other experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Maintenance Technician with a minimum of 2 of the below qualifications:

- Fire door inspection training - Desirable

- Emergency light testing training - Desirable

- Manual call point/fire alarm testing - Desirable

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
