Job summary

Net Zero Careers is seeking an experienced Air Source Heat Pump Engineer to join a growing renewable heating team. The role covers installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of domestic heat pump systems, with an initial project in Suffolk and future work across Hertfordshire and the South East.

You will ensure safety, reliability and efficiency of heating systems, explain operation to customers and work with other trades to deliver high-quality installations.

Qualifications

About the Role

Net Zero Careers is supporting a growing renewable heating team looking for an experienced Air Source Heat Pump Engineer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on domestic renewable heating installations, supporting the transition to low‑carbon heating and helping households reduce their carbon emissions.

You will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining air source heat pump systems, ensuring customers receive efficient, reliable heating solutions. The role requires a strong understanding of complete domestic heating systems, including pipework, radiators, hot water cylinders and heating controls.

The initial project will be based in Suffolk, with further work across Hertfordshire and the South East.

Key Responsibilities

Install and commission domestic air source heat pump systems.

Service, maintain and repair renewable heating systems.

Install and connect pipework, radiators, hot water cylinders and heating controls.

Carry out heating system upgrades and modifications.

Diagnose faults and resolve technical issues.

Ensure installations meet relevant safety standards, regulations and manufacturer requirements.

Test systems and ensure they operate efficiently.

Explain system operation to customers and provide guidance on using their new heating systems.

Work alongside surveyors, electricians and other engineers to complete installations.

Maintain accurate records of work completed and commissioning results.

Deliver high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

About You

We are looking for an experienced heating or plumbing engineer with a good understanding of domestic heating systems and an interest in renewable technology.

You will ideally have:

Experience installing, commissioning or maintaining air source heat pumps.

Relevant plumbing or heating qualifications.

Strong knowledge of domestic wet heating systems, including pipework, radiators and hot water cylinders.

Experience with heating controls and system upgrades.

Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.

An understanding of relevant safety standards and installation requirements.

A full UK driving licence.

The ability to work independently in customers' homes and as part of a wider team.

Good communication skills and a professional approach.

Electrical knowledge and experience working with low‑temperature heating systems would be an advantage.
