Job summary

Bensham Resource Centre in London is seeking an Activity Coordinator/Support Worker to develop and lead engaging activities for adults with autism and learning disabilities. You will coordinate sessions inside the centre and in community settings to promote independence, social interaction and fulfilment.

The role requires a hands-on approach to support wellbeing, empower service users, and cooperate with staff, families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise, run and supervise various skills, training, events and activities with the Service Users either within the Centre or community.
• Hands-on approach; support Service Users with personal, physical, social and psychological wellbeing; assist with incontinence and personal care.
• Work harmoniously with other staff, professionals and families.
• Write User's Person-Centred Plan, Positive Behaviour Support Plan, Reviews and Assessments; perform other administrative duties.
• Communicate effectively with service users using verbal and AAC methods.
• Communicate effectively with parents, carers, social workers, guardians and other professionals.

Activity Coordinator/Support Worker / Day Centre for Autistic People

Bensham Resource Centre provides educational, therapeutic, and recreational activities for adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities. Our aim is to promote independence, choice, social interaction, and fulfilment.

The candidate must be of a forward-thinking nature, energetic, with a creative mind and ready to look for opportunities for the development of activities and promotion of our Centre.

Role Responsibilities

• Plan, organise, run and supervise various skills, training, events and activities with the Service Users either within the Centre or community. These will include trips out to places of interest, library, leisure centres, cafes, parks, museums, farms, etc.
• You must have a hands-on approach and support Service Users with their personal, physical, social, and psychological wellbeing. You will assist Service Users in the control of incontinence and personal care.
• To work harmoniously with other Staff, professionals and families.
• To write User's Person-Centred Plan, Positive Behaviour Support Plan, Reviews, Assessments and to perform other administrative duties.
• Communicate effectively with the service users using verbal and AAC - Augmentative and Alternative Communication methods.
• Communicate effectively with parents, carers, social workers, guardians and other professionals.
