Job summary

St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in Godalming is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join their friendly team. This role is 22.5 hours per week across 4.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday during term time (39 weeks per year).

You will support pupils’ learning, help with classroom activities and promote independence, with a view to progressing to teaching. The post offers a supportive environment and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Have English and Maths GCSEs (or equivalent).
  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to outcomes.
  • Able to work as part of a team and use initiative.
  • Interest in pursuing teaching as a career.

Job description

Learning Support Assistant to start September 2026 - 22.5 hours per week (4.5 hours per day)

Monday to Friday: 8.40am–13.10pm, 39 weeks per year Salary Range XCET PS3 - £13,514.00 per annum pro-rata (£25,133.00 Full Time Equivalent)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strong candidate to support teaching and learning at St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in Godalming.

The position would suit someone either looking to move on to a career in teaching, or committed to the role of Learning Support Assistant.

We are looking for applicants who:
  • Have a determination to make a difference in the children’s progress and development
  • Are self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to getting the best outcomes for our children
  • Have the ability to work as part of the team as well as through their initiative
  • Have English and Maths GCSE's (or able to evidence equivalent)
  • Have high expectations of themselves and the children they work with, including promoting independence where possible.
  • Will preferably have experience supporting children within the classroom with accessing learning.
