Job summary

MJM Care Group is seeking a committed and compassionate Waking Night Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to support children aged 7–17 with complex emotional and behavioural needs in a therapeutic residential home.

You will stay awake overnight to safeguard children, monitor wellbeing, and respond to emotional needs, while maintaining logs and liaising with the daytime team to ensure continuity of care. Ongoing training and reflective supervision are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Remain awake and attentive throughout the night to safeguard and support children
  • Carry out regular checks and respond to emotional or behavioural needs
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports
  • Provide reassurance, consistency and calm to any children who wake or are unsettled
  • Support with morning transitions and handovers to the day team
  • Complete light domestic tasks to prepare the home for the following day

About the Role

MJM Care Group is seeking a committed and compassionate Waking Night Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join our therapeutic residential children’s home, supporting children and young people aged 7–17 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a safe, calm, and nurturing environment throughout the night, ensuring the welfare and safeguarding of children at all times. You will provide a consistent and reassuring presence, responding appropriately to children’s emotional needs, night-time anxieties, and any incidents in line with individual care plans and risk assessments.

You will undertake regular checks, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with the daytime team to support continuity of care. The role requires a high level of vigilance, professionalism, and reflective practice to ensure that children are protected, respected, and supported during the night.
