Job summary

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Community Specialist Podiatrist to join our Derby City and South Derbyshire teams. You will manage a specialist caseload autonomously, deliver evidence-based podiatric care for high-risk foot problems and contribute to multidisciplinary care.

The role offers opportunities for professional development, flexible working where service needs allow, and a supportive leadership team within a collaborative community podiatry service.

• Post-registration podiatry experience.

Responsibilities

• Work as an autonomous practitioner managing a specialist clinical caseload.
• Assess, diagnose, plan and deliver evidence-based podiatric care.
• Provide specialist assessment and treatment for high-risk and complex foot problems.
• Undertake wound assessment and management where appropriate.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans.
• Collaborate with GPs, nurses, diabetes teams and other MDT members.
• Provide education and preventative foot-care information to patients and carers.

Community Specialist Podiatrist - Derby City and South Derbyshire Are you an ambitious podiatrist looking to take the next step in your career?

Join our supportive and innovative Community Podiatry Service and develop your expertise in high-risk foot care, wound management and specialist MSK assessment while making a real difference to patients across Derby and South Derbyshire.

Whether you are an established Band 6 or an experienced Band 5 ready for progression, we would love to hear from you.

We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:

• Have experience managing complex or high-risk foot conditions
• Are ready to take on greater clinical autonomy and responsibility
• Enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

• Has experience of managing patients with complex or high-risk foot problems.
• Can demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.

• Is adaptable, motivated and able to work across different community settings.

What will the role involve?

• Work as an autonomous practitioner managing a specialist clinical caseload.
• Assess, diagnose, plan and deliver evidence-based podiatric care.
• Provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients with high-risk and complex foot problems.
• Undertake wound assessment and management where appropriate.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment and management plans.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, diabetes teams, vascular services and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide advice, education and preventative foot-care information to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals.
• Support the development and delivery of high-quality community podiatry services.
• Contribute to clinical supervision, mentorship, teaching and development of colleagues and students.
• Participate in service development, audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.
• Support the continued development of specialist pathways within Community Podiatry.

There may also be opportunities to develop specialist skills in areas such asMSK, nail surgery, biomechanics and other areas of specialist podiatry, depending on service requirements and individual experience
