Job summary
North East Autism Society in Consett is seeking a Care Support Assistant (VN640) to help young people and adults access activities on site and in the community. No prior health and social care experience is required, as a comprehensive induction, training and mentoring programme will prepare you to thrive.
You’ll work in a supportive team within our 77-acre farm setting, with six luxury lodges and a strong safeguarding ethos.

About the role
We run six luxury lodges on our beautiful 77-acre farm in the County Durham countryside offering personalised short breaks and activities for young people and adults.
Working independently and as part of a team, you’ll support young people and adults to access a range of activities, both on site and in the community. Whatever their passions or goals, you’ll help them widen their experiences and develop their independence in a home-away-from-home environment.
About you
While we value experience, it is not essential to have previously worked in health and social care, or with autistic people. Our comprehensive induction, training and mentoring will give you all the skills and tools you need to thrive in your career.
All that we ask is that you are a good team player with a can-do attitude, drive and resilience for what can be a demanding role. You should be friendly and approachable with good communication skills, enabling you to build positive, trusting relationships with the adults in your care.

For more than 40 years, we’ve led the way in providing care and education for autistic and/or neurodivergent children, young people and adults across the North-east of England.
We have more than 1,200 staff working in our schools, college, short breaks, day services, residential care, supported living, employment services and family support. We are passionate about retaining talent and many of our current managers have worked their way up through the ranks.

Our Salary is from BB1 £25,158.99 working through points to BB4 £26,277.61
To progress within the points band, applicants must complete a qualification relevant to the role, if they do not already hold one. The Society will cover the cost of this qualification, and once successfully completed, the employee will be eligible to move up the points. Please note, it is mandatory for this role to either already hold the qualification or begin working towards this certification once you join the society.
