Pembrokeshire Direct Payments is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a young person’s care needs under the Direct Payments scheme. You will liaise with the employer, their family, and the local support network, ensuring safeguarding and safety during working hours.

Job description

The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

Introduction:

A young person using Direct Payment in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.

The main duties to be included within this role are:
  • PA to develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
  • Support the person to build community support networks.
  • Encourage the person to engage in education at school.
  • Spend time with the person outside of the family home.
  • Communicate with the person's family and wider support network.
  • Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
  • Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
