Job summary

Dals is seeking qualified BSL Interpreters to support police, court, and legal assignments across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. This freelance role offers flexibility to choose your hours and assignments while delivering essential accessibility in the justice system.

You will interpret between English and British Sign Language, uphold confidentiality and impartiality, meet NRCPD/RBSLI registration where possible, and join a network of interpreters providing critical support to Deaf users.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and British Sign Language (BSL) is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• The right to work in the UK is required.
• Registration with NRCPD, RBSLI, or an equivalent body is preferred.
• Relevant BSL Interpreting qualifications (Level 6 or equivalent) are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Interpret between English and British Sign Language (BSL).
• Support communication within police, court, legal, custodial, and justice settings.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartial interpretation.
• Uphold professional standards and ethics at all times.
• Manage availability and assignments via the interpreting platform.
