Job summary

AWD online is seeking an Electrical Test Technician to join a growing engineering team in Brighton. You will inspect, energise, fault‑find and commission bespoke and standard ovens and furnaces before release, working with QA, Production and Engineering.

Role focuses on first energisation, heat‑up, electrical safety checks and commissioning, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. Attractive benefits on offer and a pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Previous inspection/test engineering experience or practical experience in an electrical manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams covering supplies and instrumentation.
• Understanding of LV/HV testing methods, including star/delta arrangements.
• Ability to fault-find electrical heating circuits and control systems, with understanding of relays and contactors.
• Experience with temperature-control systems, thermocouples and industrial instrumentation per applicable standards.
• Self-motivated, flexible and hands-on with good communication and teamwork.
• Basic MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Valid passport and clean driving licence; occasional travel may be required.
• PLC experience is desirable.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Test Technician to join a growing engineering team working with technically advanced ovens and furnaces.

Based mainly in Inspection & Test, the Electrical Test Technician will support first energisation, heat-up, electrical safety checks, functional testing and commissioning.

Working with Quality, Production, Electrical Design and Engineering, the Electrical Test Technician will help resolve faults, record results and ensure products meet required safety, configuration and performance standards before release.

DUTIES

• Inspection and Product Testing: Carry out final and in-process inspection of standard and bespoke products, performance testing to specifications, and applicable LV/HV electrical safety checks
• Power-Up and Commissioning: Safely energise ovens and furnaces, complete power-up checks, support initial heat-up and commissioning, and test heaters, thermocouples, controllers, instrumentation, interlocks, alarms and safety circuits
• Electrical Verification and Fault-Finding: Check wiring, terminations, control-panel build, electrical and software configuration against drawings, specifications and bills of materials, then diagnose and rectify electrical and control faults where appropriate
• Configuration and Calibration: Configure control instruments and ancillary equipment, calibrate products and record calibration results
• Quality and Compliance: Ensure equipment complies with relevant safety and performance standards, directives, norms and company procedures, and identify, document and support resolution of non-conformances
• Records and Collaboration: Maintain accurate inspection, rejection, calibration, Quality Management System, test and work-time records; liaise with internal departments and attend required training
• Health and Safety: Work in accordance with all company health and safety procedures

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with temperature-control systems, thermocouples, industrial instrumentation and applicable directives and standards in industrial applications
• Self-motivated, flexible and hands-on approach with good communication, prioritisation and teamwork skills
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Valid passport and clean driving licence, with occasional travel required
• PLC experience is desirable
