Job summary

SRG in Bracknell is seeking a Plant/Seed Production Technician to join the busy Technical Support Team. You will handle day-to-day production and maintenance of plant/seed materials under glasshouse conditions, supporting experimental screening programmes to a high standard.

This role offers development in plant biology and horticulture within a regulated, science-led environment, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day production and maintenance of plant/seed materials to a standard that meets customer requirements
• Work both independently and collaboratively within a team to carry out experimental work using established and novel screening methods
• Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the full duration of each test
• Liaise closely with other members of the Technical Support Team to ensure consistently high levels of customer support and satisfaction
• Develop technical knowledge and skills through hands-on experience across a wide range of production techniques
• Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and contribute to problem-solving in consultation with team members and supervisors
• Accurately maintain records and keep databases up to date
• Bring a continuous improvement mindset, actively contributing ideas to enhance screening methods and processes
• Contribute to strong safety performance by maintaining a clean and safe personal working environment, and by complying with all safety procedures and HSE regulations
• Ensure personal compliance with DEFRA, CBD, QMS, and HSE regulations relating to the containment and use of genetically modified organisms and licensed plant material in glasshouses, growth rooms, and laboratories
• Take accountability for work carried out with precision, accuracy, and efficiency
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and consistency in role performance
• May take on responsibility for elements of test planning.
