Job summary

Story Contracting Limited is seeking a Lead Operative to join our Story Scotland Transportation Division within the Civils team around Blantyre. You will lead on-site delivery and mentor junior crew as part of a dynamic, safety‑conscious site team.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will coordinate resource, plant and materials, and work with a Ganger to drive the programme, ensuring work is delivered on time, to budget and to high standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in civils environments essential.
• Valid full driving licence required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site delivery and mentor less experienced team members.
• Coordinate resources, plant and materials with the Ganger.
• Ensure work is delivered to programme, on time and to standard.
• Report to Site Manager and maintain safety on site.
• Support continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement.

Lead Operative – Story Scotland Transportation

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Operative to join our Story Scotland Transportation Division within our Civils team based in and around Blantyre - there really has never been a better time to join our business!

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will bring your experience to work within our site team ensuring the day to day delivery of our programme, working closely with a Ganger assisting in the organising of resource, plant and materials to deliver the works You will be expected to set standards and act as a mentor to our less experienced team members.
