Job summary

Rapier Employment is recruiting a Regional Driver Assessor to join a newly established transport assessment team serving the South Region. Based at depots in Haverhill or Slough, you will travel regularly to assess drivers and coach on safety and standards.

You’ll conduct practical driving assessments for new recruitments, ongoing competency, and refresher sessions, with flexible, autonomous working arrangements and a clear path for professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience in driver training or assessor roles.
• Strong coaching and communication skills.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple assessments.
• Proficient with basic office software (Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Conduct practical driving assessments for new recruits, ongoing competency, and refresher sessions.
• Cover depots across Haverhill and Slough, with regular travel.
• Provide feedback and coaching to drivers to improve safety and standards.
• Work in a flexible, autonomous manner with diary control.

We are recruiting a Regional Driver Assessor to join an exciting newly established assessment team supporting drivers across the South Region.

About The Role

As a Regional Driver Assessor, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safety, competence and professionalism of our commercial drivers.

You’ll conduct practical driving assessments for:

• New Driver Recruitment
• Ongoing Driver Competency Assessments
• Refresher and Development Assessments

Working across our Southern depot network, you'll assess drivers operating a diverse fleet including:

• 450 Vans
• 80 Rigid Vehicles
• 120 Articulated Vehicles

Assessments may involve practical manoeuvring exercises in depot yards, on-road driving assessments and driver coaching sessions.

Your Region

You can be based at any of the following depots:

• Haverhill (CB9 7FD)
• Slough (SL1 4RY)

Travel across these locations will be a regular part of the role, although you'll have complete ownership of your diary and schedule.

When not conducting assessments, you can work from home, a depot office, or any suitable remote working location.

What We’re Looking For

• Current or former HGV Drivers
• Driver Trainers
• Driver Assessors

• Fleet Compliance Personnel

Ideally You’ll Have:

• C+E (Class 1) Licence (preferred)
• Experience within commercial driving operations
• Strong communication and coaching skills
• Good organisational ability
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and Outlook
• A commitment to improving driver safety and performance

Salary & Vehicle
