Job summary

Lyreco in Leeds is seeking an experienced RDC Manager to lead our regional distribution center. The role emphasizes a Monday–Friday schedule, no weekend work, and responsibility for performance targets, budget control, and order fulfillment processes.

You will manage staff, ensure vehicle compliance, maintain records, and contribute to sustainability initiatives such as EV fleet expansion; strong organisational and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a current C1 driving license with no more than 6 minor offences.
• Knowledge of tachographs and EU driving regulations for working time directive.
• Be organised and flexible to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Team oriented and able to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all RDC vehicles are maintained per manufacturer recommendations and legal requirements.
• Establish and maintain personnel files for all RDC staff and keep records up to date.
• Motivate staff and run regular monthly meetings, with minutes.
• Instruct drivers on procedures, quality, and security.
• Cover delivery routes for staff holidays and unforeseen absences.

Develops monthly and yearly DC performance targets and statistics, manages budget preparation and financial control of all aspects of the DC (productivity, quality, costs inventory, inventory results, internal write off). Monitors and develops the optimization and order fulfillment process. Formulates and implements customized processes based on customer needs.

Responsibilities of a Regional Distribution Centre Manager include:

• To ensure all vehicles are maintained in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, are roadworthy and operate within legal requirements e.g., payload, tachograph, etc.
• Establish and maintain personnel files for all RDC staff and ensure records and information is kept up to date.
• Motivate staff and hold regular monthly meetings with all staff and produce minutes of these meetings.
• Ensure drivers are instructed on all aspects of the operation and vehicles including procedures, quality, and security.
• There will be a requirement to cover the delivery routes for staff holidays and absence as well as ad hoc volume drops.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Hold a current full C1 driving license with no more than 6 minor offence penalty points.
• Working knowledge of tachographs and EU driving regulations in relation to the working time directive.
• Be organized and flexible in approach to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Smart personal appearance is essential.
• Have knowledge of tachograph and drivers' hours regulations.
• You will be required to complete a CRB check.
• This job role requires regular contact with the company's customer base. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Team orientated.
• Basic PC skills and knowledge of Word, Excel, etc.
