Job summary

Yorwaste is seeking a Recycling Collection Vehicle (RCV) Driver to service commercial customers across York and North Yorkshire. The role requires safe operation of our vehicle fleet, independent work, and strong time-management to meet routes and schedules.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 5:00 AM start and 12-hour days, Monday to Friday, with potential holiday coverage. You will hold a Category C license (Class 2) with no disqualifications and a valid Driver CPC.

• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and collect recycling at commercial sites.
• Operate RCVs safely in line with health and safety standards.
• Coordinate with transport planners to manage routes and schedules.
• Work as a lone driver and cover holidays/bank holidays when needed.
• Be flexible to adapt to weather and operational changes.

Pay: £17.04 per hour

Secure base salary of £42,648.80 plus performance-related progression up to £45,241.80.

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 48 hpw - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - 12 hours per day - start time 5 AM until 5:30 PM (Half hour lunch deducted).

Yorwaste's Drivers are responsible for providing services to our commercial customers across York and North Yorkshire. Working independently, you will show good management of personal workload, ensuring the safe operation and driving of our various vehicles, in-line with our health and safety standards.

As an RCV Driver, you will be responsible for the collection of recycling material including food waste. You will demonstrate good organisational and time-management skills, adapting to varying routes and schedules based on the evolving needs of our clients and the business. Being a positive and enthusiastic person, you will be able to adapt to operational obstacles that may arise in varying weather conditions. Excellent communication skills are required to coordinate regularly with our transport planners and the wider team, ensuring an efficient and friendly service.

This is a permanent, full-time position, Tuesday to Friday- 12 hours per day - start time 5 AM until 5:30 PM (Half hour lunch deducted). This position does require lone working. You may be required to work additional hours and bank holidays, so availability during these times is important, as is the ability to cover holidays and sickness as needed.

Essential Qualifications

• Category C Drivers Licence (Class 2) with no historical driving disqualifications.
• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
