Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering with a focus on railway systems.
  • Professional engineering license (PE) preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in MEP design, particularly in railway or transportation projects.
  • Proficiency in MEP design software and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the MEP design phase of railway projects from concept to completion.
  • Oversee development of MEP design documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Ensure MEP designs comply with project specs, industry standards, and codes/regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
  • Review and approve design changes, value engineering proposals, and submittals.
  • Mentor and train team members to enhance technical skills.

A Railway MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Design Manager is a critical role within a railway infrastructure project responsible for overseeing the MEP design aspects of the project. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of railway systems.


The MEP Design Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that railway infrastructure projects are designed to meet high-quality standards, safety requirements, and operational efficiency. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering successful railway projects.

Job Summary


The Railway MEP Design Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design aspects of railway infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring that all MEP systems are designed to meet project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. The Railway MEP Design Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, engineers, and stakeholders to achieve successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities



  • Design Management:

  • Lead and manage the MEP design phase of railway projects from concept to completion.

  • Oversee the development of MEP design documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.

  • Ensure that MEP designs are in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes and regulations.

  • Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise in MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems.

  • Review and approve design changes, value engineering proposals, and technical submittals.

  • Resolve technical issues and challenges during the design phase.

  • Manage a team of MEP engineers and designers, assigning tasks and responsibilities.

  • Foster a collaborative work environment and ensure effective communication within the team.

  • Mentor and train team members to enhance their technical skills.

  • Coordination and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other departments, including civil engineering, structural engineering, and architecture, to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into the overall railway project.

  • Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality MEP designs.

  • Quality Assurance

  • Implement quality control processes to review and assess the accuracy and completeness of MEP design deliverables.

  • Conduct design reviews and inspections to identify and address any design-related issues.

  • Budget and Schedule Management

  • Monitor and control the MEP design budget to ensure that the project stays within budget constraints.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring MEP design milestones are met.

  • Regulatory Compliance

  • Stay updated on relevant codes, standards, and regulations related to railway MEP systems.

  • Ensure that all MEP designs comply with safety and environmental regulations.

  • Identify potential risks related to MEP design and develop mitigation plans.

  • Take proactive measures to minimize design-related risks that could impact project timelines and budgets.
