Job summary

British Transport Police is seeking a Scene of Crime Officer to join the Nottingham-based team. You will work on-site, attending scenes and fatalities, recovering forensic evidence, and supporting investigations to keep railway networks safe.

The role requires a forensic science degree or equivalent experience, plus a UK driving licence. It is a part-time, shift-based position with pro rata allowances and a strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in a forensic science-related subject or relevant experience in the field.
• Full UK manual driving license (essential).

Responsibilities

• Attend scenes of crime and fatalities across the East Midlands and surrounding areas, recovering and preserving forensic evidence.
• Conduct general crime scene photography and injury photographs.
• Perform fingerprint examination to obtain identifiable marks for submission to the Fingerprint department.
• Monitor incidents for forensic opportunities and liaise with victims, witnesses or investigators.
• Attend forensic post-mortems and assist identifying deceased persons.
• Complete administrative tasks and maintain detailed scene records and audits.
