Job summary

DB Cargo UK Limited in Stoke is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join the Wagons team at our Stoke depot. This hands-on role maintains, repairs and overhauls rail freight wagons, with training provided no rail experience required.

You will use hand and power tools, perform inspections and document work. Hours Tue-Fri 07:30-16:30 with overtime opportunities; starting salary £25,914 rising to £28,842 after competency.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical maintenance or fitting is desirable.
• Experience with mechanical assembly or fabrication is beneficial.
• Demonstrates reliability, safety awareness and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repair and overhaul work on freight wagons.
• Assist with fault finding and mechanical repairs.
• Complete planned maintenance and inspections.
• Work underneath wagons and bogies performing inspections and repairs.
• Use hand and air tools to replace components and support braking tests and fabrication where needed.
