Job summary

Arriva TrainCare at Tyne Yard is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to service and overhaul rail vehicles in line with established standards. Reporting to the Light Maintenance Team Leader, you will contribute to safety, quality and reliability targets while working a 4 on/4 off night shift.

The role requires a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) and experience with rail traction and rolling stock.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).
• Experience with rail traction and rolling stock.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Carry out rail vehicle maintenance and overhaul within set timescales and to recognised standards.
• Drive rail vehicles as required within depot operating limits and in accordance with procedures.
• Ensure safety procedures and documentation are adhered to per VMI and local instructions.
• Ensure worksheets are signed off correctly and promptly on completion of work.
• Follow Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions at all times.
• Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings and implement actions.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a consistent standard of cleanliness throughout the depot.
• Assist the Team Leader to ensure rolling stock availability and reliability targets are met.
