Job summary

WM Trains Limited is seeking a Technician (Part time) at Tyseley, working 20 hours per week. The role is permanent and pro rata salary will reflect the 20 hours worked.

You will maintain, inspect and repair a diversified diesel fleet, ensuring safety, reliability and readiness for service across WM Trains Class 172, Class 196, and CrossCountry Class 170 fleets. The position requires an apprenticeship or relevant electrical/mechanical qualifications, a driving licence, and training in PTS/AP as

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship or hold relevant electrical/mechanical eng qualifications as per policy.
• Driving licence for road vehicles and authority to drive Railway Service vehicles.
• PTS / Designated Person / AP trained if required.
• Power Plant equipment trained.
• PC / IT literate (training provided).
• Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) desired.
• Additional skills such as Lathe Operator or carriage repairer/painter.

Responsibilities

• Attend servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification of traction/rolling stock.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on rolling stock per specs.
• Attend to in-service failures and act as Designated Person if required.
• Complete work records and sign off; compile reports as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental systems.
• Instruct new entrants, apprentices, contractors and visitors on procedures.
• Suggest improvements to documentation, tooling or practices for safety/productivity.
• Carry out other tasks as directed when skilled.
