Job summary

Teamforce Rail Division is recruiting a COSS local to Christchurch, Dorset for a 12-month contract. Basic hours are 07:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with weekend work available.

You will establish and maintain a safe system of work for the work group and ensure all planned arrangements are understood and followed. Your responsibilities include supporting the Safe System of Work Planner, reviewing Safe Work Packs, briefing work groups, verifying competencies, maintaining track protection, and

Qualifications

• COSS competency confirmed and current.
• Minimum 2 years' railway experience.
• Experience as COSS or similar safety-critical railway role.
• Good understanding of Network Rail standards, Rule Book and Safe Work Packs.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Safe System of Work Planner and provide site access and safety information for planning works.
• Review Safe Work Packs and accept or reject arrangements as appropriate.
• Brief work groups on Safe Work Pack, site arrangements, risks and controls.
• Check personnel hold Sentinel, track safety and task competencies.
• Maintain planned track protection and warning arrangements.
• Liaise with Engineering Supervisors, site management and railway personnel.
• Conduct point of work and dynamic risk assessments and respond to changing site conditions.
• Ensure safe systems of work are maintained during shifts.
• Challenge unsafe behaviours and stop work when unsafe.
