Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Freelance Site Engineer / setting out engineer for a rail project in Cardiff, Wales, for around 1 year. You will work on Civils with Buildings/Architecture elements and must have rail experience.

PTS is ideal but not essential. Duties include setting out using Total Stations and GPS, interpreting CAD/BIM, QA surveys, and coordinating with site teams while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Rail project experience required.
• PTS desirable but not essential.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Set out lines and levels using Total Stations and GPS.
• Interpret 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models to extract coordinates.
• Conduct as-built surveys and QA checks to verify tolerances.
• Liaise with site agents, subcontractors and engineers to resolve queries and clashes.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
