Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer for a major tram depot extension project in Birmingham. The role is heavily site-based, focusing on drainage, foundations and earthworks, with a strong emphasis on setting out, QA documentation and on-site problem solving.

You will review designs with the Senior Engineer, use Total Station, GPS and CAD tools, and liaise with construction teams to ensure works are delivered on time and to specification.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer.
• Strong civils focus on drainage, foundations and earthworks.
• Experience using Total Station, GPS, and CAD.
• CSCS card is mandatory.
• Rail experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Are you a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer with a background in setting out drainage, foundations, and earthworks? Do you have a valid CSCS card? Job Title: Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer Location: Birmingham - 5 days on site Rate: £400/day Inside IR35 / CIS Contract: 18-24 Months Start Date: ASAP This is an opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to join a major tram depot extension project, with approximately 18 months of work remaining and potential for further opportunities. The role will be heavily site-based, with a particular focus on below-ground civils including drainage and foundations. You will work closely with the Senior Engineer to review designs, set out works, maintain quality documentation, and provide practical engineering solutions to challenges encountered on site.

To succeed in this role, you will need

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer
• Strong understanding of civils activities, particularly drainage, foundations and earthworks
• Experience using Total Station and GPS equipment
• Competent with CAD and engineering drawings
• Strong focus on quality, documentation and accuracy
• CSCS card
• Rail experience would be advantageous but is not essential - highways or other infrastructure backgrounds will be considered
