Job summary

Siemens Mobility in York is offering a 48‑month Rail Engineering Advanced Technician apprenticeship. You will work on live signalling projects, build hands‑on experience, and pursue the Level 4 apprenticeship standard with NTAR as the provider.

The programme includes mentoring, development days and a clear path to a permanent role on successful completion. Apprenticeship candidates should be working toward or have achieved appropriate GCSEs and Level 3 qualifications, with hybrid/ block release

Qualifications

• GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4/C or higher.
• A Level/ BTEC/ Diploma aligned with engineering as part of the admission criteria.
• Progress toward an eligible Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work on live signalling projects to gain hands‑on experience.
• Contribute to regionally delivered rail infrastructure projects.
• Deliver an Apprentice Excellence Project by proposing a process improvement.
• Aligned to a role in the business from day one with clear development goals.

Education

GCSE English (Grade 4/C or above)

GCSE Maths (Grade 4/C or above)

Level 3 Engineering Qualification

Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering

BTEC or equivalent technical qualification

3 A Levels at C or above in maths/physics/engineering
