Job Description

We are searching for a Civils Design Regional Lead to join us at AECOM, working collaboratively on our Transportation projects.

As the Civils Design Regional Lead for London and South East, you will be responsible for leadership, client stakeholder engagement, team development, technical excellence, and governance. You will interface with regional teams and Global design centres within AECOM.

Our key external stakeholders include Network Rail, TfL, and key contractor partners. The region comprises approximately 100 FTE working on heavy and light rail projects in renewals and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the Civils Rail Design growth strategy and delivery in the region.
2. Promote inclusiveness and build strong relationships with clients and partners.
3. Own discipline performance, ensuring compliance and governance.
4. Engage with wider AECOM business units to support strategy and growth.

Safety

• Lead safety culture within the Civils team.
• Cascade relevant safety briefing materials.

Excellence in Execution

• Ensure projects are properly resourced.
• Collaborate on training and development.
• Deliver quality outcomes aligned with KPIs.
• Promote governance and resource planning.

People Management

• Develop and manage the LSE Rail Civils team.
• Ensure proper structure, succession, and development plans.
• Mentor team members and support professional achievement.

Work Winning and Client Relations

• Develop and maintain client and supply chain relationships.
• Build project pipelines and lead bids.
• Promote a culture of success and engagement.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Civils Rail Design within the Rail sector.
• Team management experience.
• Strategic thinking skills.
• Understanding of railway design and delivery practices.
• Chartered engineer status.

Experience with Network Rail, London Underground, Railway Standards, British Standards, and Eurocodes is preferred.
