Job summary

Arup is seeking a Project Manager, Rail to join a multidisciplinary team based in Glasgow, Manchester or York. You will coordinate engineering and design activities, manage interfaces and monitor plans, budgets and quality across rail projects in the UK.

You will report to a Senior Project Manager, collaborate with discipline Technical Heads, and help deliver value for clients and communities while pursuing professional development and chartership opportunities.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience supporting or managing multidisciplinary rail design projects, with understanding of requirements, change, programme, cost, quality and commercial management.
• Relevant project management experience, ideally as Assistant, Junior or Project Manager within rail, transport infrastructure or similarly complex environment.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-management skills, with ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and build trusted client/partner relationships.
• An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification, with interest in professional development and working towards chartership. An APM Project Management Qualification would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to client or project sites across the UK.
• Experience in stations, depots, rail systems, rolling stock, electrification, decarbonisation, renewals or remodelling would be beneficial. Interest in innovation, process improvement, data analysis, Power BI is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating engineering and design activities and managing technical interfaces.
• Monitoring project plans, budgets and programme to deliver on time and within cost.
• Maintaining clear communication with clients, project teams and delivery partners throughout the lifecycle.
• Reporting to Senior Project Manager and collaborating with discipline Heads to share knowledge and improve processes.
