Job summary

CAF, a real living wage employer, seeks an Operations Buyer for the UK Supply Chain. You will manage end-to-end procurement supporting fleet maintenance and service delivery across the rail network.

Working with Demand, Category Managers and suppliers, you will source, negotiate and monitor performance while ensuring ERP data accuracy and cost control. A strong candidate will have rail procurement experience and SAP/S4HANA familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Procurement/Supply Chain, Business or related field.
• Working towards CIPS foundation level 4.
• Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles, preferably in rail/transportation.
• Strong understanding of supply chain operations and supplier performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management capabilities.
• Familiarity with ERP/procurement systems—ideally SAP with S/4HANA experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• End-to-end procurement for fleet maintenance and service delivery.
• Collaborate with Demand Team, Category Manager and internal stakeholders.
• Source, negotiate, expediting orders and monitor supplier performance.
• Maintain data accuracy within ERP; focus on Total Cost of Ownership.
• Support cost control and continuous improvement of procurement processes.
