Job summary

The Operations Buyer at CAF Rail UK oversees the end-to-end procurement for fleet maintenance and service delivery across the rail network. You will work with Demand Team, Category Manager and stakeholders to ensure material availability and cost-effective procurement.

A strong focus on supplier management, data accuracy in ERP, and continuous improvement is essential to meet service standards. You will contribute to achieving reliability and safety objectives while negotiating with suppliers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Procurement/Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
• Working towards CIPS and foundation level 4 qualification.
• Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles, preferably in rail or transportation.
• Strong understanding of supply chain operations and supplier performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Familiarity with ERP and procurement systems, ideally SAP with experience of S/4HANA.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end management of operational procurement activities to support fleet maintenance and service delivery.
• Collaborate with Demand Team, Category Manager and stakeholders to ensure material availability and timely procurement.
• Sourcing, negotiation, order expediting and supplier performance monitoring to meet service, quality and delivery targets.
• Maintain data accuracy in ERP, manage total cost of ownership and drive process improvement aligned with UK rail standards.
