Job summary

Freightliner Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to join our operations team. You will load and unload HGVs and freight trains using lifting equipment including cranes, ensuring safe arrivals and departures and performing train shunting as required.

This safety-critical role requires a pre-employment medical and a proactive attitude to health and safety; you will work 35 hours per week across day and night shifts, with weekend work on a rota basis.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness and ability to work at height.
• -Ability to operate lifting equipment safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate gantry cranes, heavy lifting and plant equipment safely.
• Carry out the safe arrival and departure of freight trains.
• Safely conduct train shunting duties in line with instructions.
• Check container locking mechanisms.
• Communicate with Yard team and Terminal Coordinators to ensure timely container availability.
